Mr. Anthony Sylvestre is a graduate of the University College of Belize, the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School. He is both a civil and criminal law practitioner and has over nineteen years experience in a wide range of areas, including criminal law, administrative law and constitutional law matters. He has appeared in numerous appeals before the Court of Appeal of Belize, a number of them concerning constitutional issues. He has also appeared and argued before Belize’s final apex Court, the Caribbean Court of Justice, in cases relating to criminal practice and procedure which safeguards the constitutional right to a fair trial in criminal matters. He has served as a Crown Counsel in the Director of Public Prosecutions Office and Director of the Legal Advice & Service Centre. He has also served as an Executive Member of the Bar Association of Belize. Mr. Sylvestre has also served as a Senator in the National Assembly and before assuming office as Attorney General, was the Chairperson of the Labour Complaints Tribunal and the Chairman of the Board of Trustee of the University of Belize.
